Ranjit Kumar Chandra is an Indian-born Canadian researcher known as the self-proclaimed 'father of nutritional immunology.' Despite his contributions to science, he was involved in significant controversies, including scientific and health care fraud. A libel trial in 2015 found allegations against him to be true, resulting in a $1.6 million penalty and the loss of his Order of Canada membership. Four of his research publications have been retracted, and he faced criminal charges in 2016 for allegedly defrauding the Ontario Health Insurance Plan.
