Born on August 7, 1946, in Zaria, he received his education from various institutions, including CMS school, Emmanuel College, and Trinity College. He began his career with the Scripture Union, becoming General Secretary in 1980. Ordained as a deacon in 1989 and as a priest in 1990, he served in the Diocese of Enugu, eventually rising to the positions of Canon and Archdeacon.
