Raymond Ahipene-Mercer, born on October 20, 1948, is a former New Zealand politician, notable for being a Wellington City Councillor for the Eastern Ward and the second Māori elected to the council, first since 1962. In addition to his political career, he is a guitar-maker, musician known as Ray Mercer, and an environmentalist who led the Clean Water Campaign against sewage pollution on the Wellington coast. He was the first Māori to run for Wellington mayor in 2007 and was runner-up in the elections.
