As a head coach from 1978 to 2021, he achieved over 1,200 career wins, becoming the winningest baseball coach in New Mexico and the Mountain West Conference history. He coached at various levels, including high school and college teams, and received multiple accolades, including the 2005 NJCAA Coach of the Year. Additionally, he was involved in basketball coaching and was recognized for his service to the community, named National 'Keeper of the Game' in 2020.
