Ray Gillis Williston (1914-2006) was a prominent educator and political figure in British Columbia, serving in the Legislative Assembly from 1953 to 1972. He held significant cabinet roles including Minister of Education and Minister of Lands, Forests and Water Resources. A veteran of World War II, he contributed to the Columbia River Treaty negotiations. Post-politics, he managed the New Brunswick Forest Authority and led British Columbia Cellulose Company. Williston's legacy includes Williston Lake, and he authored a book on forestry policy. He passed away at age 92.
