D. Raymond 'Ray' Picard, born on January 4, 1928, is a notable hockey goalie who was the first All-American athlete at Northeastern University. Inducted into the Northeastern athletics Hall of Fame in 1977, he excelled in both collegiate and amateur hockey. Before his collegiate career, Picard served in the Marine Corps and achieved recognition as the Most Valuable Player in the 1948 US Amateur Championships. He later played a season with the Boston Bruins' farm team, the Worcester Warriors, during 1953-54.
