He began his professional career in the weak Irish league, achieving high scoring averages. He then played for Mayoral Málaga, forming a notable partnership with Mike Smith and becoming the league's top scorer in his last season there. Smith also played for CB Canarias and was the second leading scorer in the ACB league before concluding his career in Austria and France. He returned to amateur basketball at 43.
