Ray Twinney (November 1935 - December 24, 1994) was a Canadian politician who served as the mayor of Newmarket, Ontario, from 1979 until his death in 1994, making him the town's longest-serving mayor. He entered politics in East Gwillimbury in 1965 and was elected to Newmarket town council in 1970. He was instrumental in the development of the Newmarket Recreation Complex, named in his honor after his passing. Twinney was also active in local sports, owning several successful teams before his untimely death due to cancer.
