Raymond Buckland (August 31, 1934 - September 27, 2017) was a British-born American author of both fiction and non-fiction, a liturgist, and a Wicca priest. He is noted for being the first person in the USA to openly acknowledge his practice of Wicca. In 1963, he met Gerald Gardner, who introduced him to the principles of Gardnerian Wicca. The following year, he brought Gardnerian Wicca to the USA but later developed his own tradition known as Seax-Wicca, without breaking his original Gardnerian oath.
