Raymond Theodore Carhart was an American audiologist known for his work at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He became prominent for the Carhart Notch, a phenomenon in bone conduction audiometry associated with otosclerosis, which disappears after successful stapedectomy. He first described this finding in 1950 at the International Audiology Congress in Stockholm. Additionally, he is recognized for the Threshold Tone Decay Test, which he introduced in 1957.
