Reet Kasik is an Estonian linguist born on May 5, 1946, in Tallinn. She graduated in 1969 from Tartu State University with a degree in Estonian philology and has served as a faculty member there since. Kasik has also been involved in teaching the Estonian language at several universities in Finland. Her research work focuses on the word formation of the Estonian language, methods of teaching Estonian to foreigners, and journalism language. In recognition of her contributions, she received the Wiedemann Language Award in 2018.
