Rem Viktorovich Petrov, born on March 22, 1930, in the Lower Volga region, is a Soviet and Russian immunologist. He is an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN), having been a full member of the USSR Academy of Sciences since 1984, and served as its vice-president until 2001, also holding the vice-president role starting from 1988. Additionally, he became an academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (RAMN) in 1978 and of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (RAShN) in 1991. He was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor in 1991.
