René Desvignes, born Jean Marie Philibert on October 17, 1909, in Saint-Léger-sous-Beuvray, was a French gendarme and resistance fighter who died for France during World War II. He was killed on April 13, 1945, at Gardelegen, where he was a victim of a massacre. His bravery and sacrifice are remembered in the context of the struggle against oppression during the war.
