René Snelders (1937-2022) was a Belgian footballer and businessman, known for playing as a defender for Beerschot A.C. and Royal Antwerp FC. After retiring, he significantly contributed to the success of Beerschot A.C. in the 1980s, helping elevate the club to the Belgian Pro League. He was also the father of footballer and coach Eddy Snelders and the grandfather of footballer Kristof Snelders. Snelders passed away on December 8, 2022, in a residential care center at the age of 85.
