René Van Droogenbroeck, known as VDB, was a French aikido practitioner and teacher born on January 23, 1941, in Changé, Sarthe. He started aikido at the age of 24 and trained under various masters, including Tamura for over 30 years. He was a national technical officer for the French Aikido and Budo Federation and became an influential figure in aikido and iaido, also practicing kendo. He taught across multiple countries and passed away on February 15, 2012.
