Wing Commander Rex Southern Sanders was a navigator in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for his service in the war and later received the Air Force Cross (AFC) for his involvement in covert photographic and radar reconnaissance missions over the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1950s.
