Richard Allen Davis is an American convicted murderer and child abuser, born on June 2, 1954. His criminal record influenced the creation of California's 'three strikes' law for repeat offenders. Currently, he is on death row at San Quentin State Prison in California. In 1996, Davis was convicted of first-degree murder and four special circumstances in the case of 12-year-old Polly Klaas, whom he abducted from her home on October 1, 1993. He displayed contempt during his sentencing and made derogatory comments about the victim's father.
