Richard F. Clippinger (1913-1998) was an American computer scientist known for his work in ballistic research and computer programming. He earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University and contributed to the development of the ENIAC into a von Neumann type computer. He worked at the Ballistic Research Laboratory and later at Raytheon and Honeywell, where he was involved in software development for the Honeywell-800 computer family and led the development of the FACT programming language. He received the Computer Pioneer Award in 1996.
