Richard V. Ganslen (1917–1995) was an American track and field athlete renowned for his pole vaulting expertise. He was the 1938 national indoor champion and won the NCAA title in 1939. Ganslen authored influential technical manuals on pole vaulting and was a leading authority in the field. After serving in World War II, he earned a PhD in physiology and kinesiology and later became a professor. He worked with NASA on the Gemini program and wrote various papers related to sports. Ganslen's legacy continues as a pivotal figure in athletics.
