Richard Gendall was a Cornish language activist born in 1924 and passed away in 2017. He was the founder of Curnoack Nowedga, promoting the Cornish language. In the 1980s, he was a key figure in the division of the Cornish language movement into two factions, one favoring modern Cornish and the other seeking inspiration from 18th-century texts. He collaborated with Exeter University and published numerous books and poems under the pen name Gelvinak. Gendall was also a musician and composed songs performed by Brenda Wootton.
