Richard Philip Godwin, known as Dick, was an accomplished American engineer and businessman. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, earned an Engineering degree from Yale, and worked his way up to chief metallurgist at New Britain Machine Company. He was a Nuclear Engineer for the NS Savannah, the first nuclear-powered merchant vessel, before joining Bechtel where he became vice president. Later, he served as the first Under Secretary for Acquisition at The Pentagon. In retirement, he produced successful Broadway musicals and opened a vineyard in Northern California.
