Richard J. Burke (1915-1999) was an Irish-American journalist, poet, and playwright, known for his work with WBEN Radio and Buffalo Evening News. He covered significant events such as the final session of Vatican II and was awarded for his articles. In addition to journalism, Burke also engaged in writing plays and screenplays. His interests included nature writing and research on the Spanish occupation of the Caribbean. He was tragically killed in 1999 when struck by a motorist while at home.
