Colonel Richard Kemp, born on April 14, 1952, is a former commander of British forces in Afghanistan. He served in the British Army from 1977 to 2006, holding a leadership position in an infantry battalion and working in the Joint Intelligence Committee as well as the Cabinet Office Briefing Room. Throughout his career, he completed 14 operational missions worldwide. After retiring, he wrote his first book, 'Attack State Red', documenting the 2007 campaign of the Royal Anglian Regiment in Afghanistan, which became a bestseller in the Sunday Times shortly after its release.
