Sir Richard Everard Nichols was an English solicitor and the 670th Lord Mayor of London. Born in Watford, he was educated at Christ's Hospital School and served in the Royal Engineers. He became a senior partner at a firm of solicitors, served in multiple civic roles including Sheriff and Lord Mayor of London, and was knighted in 1998. Nichols also served as Chancellor of the University of Ulster. He was married to Shelagh Loveband and had three children, living on a farm in Hertfordshire.
