He represented Switzerland at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he placed 27th in the qualification round and finished 14th overall after reaching the quarter-finals. Spalinger also competed in the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in 2005 and 2007, achieving 10th and 15th place respectively. Throughout his career, he secured seven top 10 finishes in World Cup races, including a podium finish with third place in Flaine on January 16, 2008.
