Rick Dowswell, born Richard Dowswell on January 21, 1951, in Sarnia, is a former Canadian javelin thrower. He finished seventh at the 1971 Pan American Games in Cali. Dowswell did not advance past the qualification rounds at the 1972 Munich Olympics. He achieved a fourth place finish at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch. He became the Canadian champion in 1971 and, while competing for Ohio University, won the NCAA championship in 1972, recording a personal best throw of 81.05 meters.
