Ricky Lynn Waddell is a retired lieutenant general in the United States Army Reserve. He served in notable roles such as Deputy National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2018 and as the Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2018 to 2021. His promotion to lieutenant general was sanctioned by the United States Senate on September 26, 2019. Waddell concluded his active military service in October 2021.
