Marie 'Rie' Stokvis was a Dutch Englander born in Amsterdam around May 14, 1903, and passed away on February 24, 1970, in Vence, France. Known also as Rie Knapper or Rie Stokvis-Knapper, she arrived in London in November 1942. There, she was instrumental in establishing the Voluntary Women's Auxiliary Corps, fundraising, and recruiting volunteers for aid efforts in the Netherlands. During the liberation of the Netherlands, she served as an adjutant to Queen Wilhelmina.
