Rien van der Velde is a Dutch politician born on February 21, 1957. He served as a member of the House of Representatives for the Labour Party from October 2016 to March 2017, initially as a temporary replacement and later as a permanent member. He has been part of the municipal council of Noordoostpolder since 2010. Van der Velde is a lecturer at Van Hall Larenstein and he owns an educational institute. He was also number 51 on the Labour Party list for the 2012 Dutch general election.
