Rita Schönenberger (née Heggli) is a retired Swiss hurdler and long jumper, born on December 3, 1962. She achieved notable performances in athletics, placing fourth in the 60 meters hurdles at the 1987 World Indoor Championships in Indianapolis and reaching the semifinals in the 100 meters hurdles at the World Championships in Rome. Schönenberger competed in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where she was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 100 meters hurdles. A six-time national champion in the 100 meters hurdles and a fourteen-time champion in long jump, she also excelled indoors.
