Roald Tangen was a Norwegian physicist born on February 8, 1912, in Modum. He is recognized as a pioneer of nuclear physics research in Norway, particularly in particle accelerators. After completing his education at NTH in 1936, he contributed to the construction of a Van de Graaff generator/accelerator. He earned his Dr. techn. degree in 1948 and served as a professor of experimental physics at NTH until 1952. Subsequently, he took a position at the University of Oslo, where he continued his work in accelerator technology and made significant discoveries in nuclear resonance.
