He developed a passion for the guitar, inspired by Brian May's solos and later played in bands like Howling Hurricanes, Toontje Lager, and Robby Valentine. He was the main guitarist for Marco Borsato from 1994 to 2014, also contributing as a songwriter. Rob won the SENA Award for Best Accompanying Guitarist in 2002 and has received multiple accolades in the Gitarist Poll awards.
