Robert C. Birkby is an American adventure guide, author, and speaker known for his contributions to outdoor conservation and trail design. A former Boy Scout, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and received the William T. Hornaday Gold Award for conservation. He wrote extensively for Boys' Life and the Boy Scout Handbook. Birkby co-led adventure trips worldwide with Mountain Madness and authored a biography of Scott Fischer, a fellow adventurer. He played a significant role in the construction of the Great Baikal Trail in Siberia.
