Robert Coleman Richardson was an American physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1996 alongside David Lee and Douglas Osheroff for their discovery of superfluidity in helium-3. Born on June 26, 1937, in Washington, D.C., his research focused on the properties of matter at temperatures close to absolute zero. In 1972, he, along with David Lee, made significant contributions to the understanding of superfluidity in helium-3 while conducting their research at Cornell University. He passed away on February 19, 2013.
