Robert Alan Fratta was a US public safety officer who was convicted of orchestrating the murder of his wife, Farah, in 1994. He received a death sentence in 1996 and was executed on January 10, 2023, making him the first person executed in Texas in 2023. His case gained notoriety through a documentary by Werner Herzog. Fratta maintained his innocence, claiming he was wrongfully convicted. The murder was carried out by an assassin, and evidence indicated that Fratta had hired the gunman. His wife's divorce filing was partly due to his sexual preferences.
