Robert H. Grubbs is an American chemist and professor at the California Institute of Technology. He studied chemistry at the University of Florida and earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University. Grubbs spent seven years at Stanford University, later joining the University of Michigan before moving to Caltech in 1978. In 2005, he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry alongside Yves Chauvin and Richard Schrock for their development of chemical reaction methods in organic compounds, a significant advancement with implications for pharmaceutical production. He was also awarded the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Chemistry in 2000.
