Roberto Fung Kuan was a Chinese-Filipino restaurateur who founded Chowking, a successful fast food chain offering Filipino and Chinese cuisine. After studying business, he managed a family Chinese restaurant, Ling Nam, before establishing Chowking in 1985. The restaurant grew rapidly and became a major competitor in the Filipino fast food market. Kuan later sold his stake to Jollibee Foods Corporation and contributed to public institutions, particularly St. Luke's Medical Center, where he served as chairman for several years. Chowking continues to be the largest Chinese restaurant chain in the Philippines.
