Mair has held various academic positions, including Professor of Geotechnics at Cambridge and Master of Jesus College since 2001. He is known for his involvement in significant tunnel projects, including the Jubilee Line Extension and various international endeavors. Mair is a fellow of several engineering institutions and was appointed to the House of Lords in 2015.
