Robert Edward McCoy was an American blues pianist and singer, born on March 31, 1910, in Aliceville, Alabama. He grew up in Birmingham, where he lived his whole life. McCoy began his recording career in the 1930s, collaborating with various artists, including Jaybird Coleman and Guitar Slim. After a period without recordings, he resumed in the early 1960s, resulting in notable LPs such as 'Barrel House Blues and Jook Piano' in 1962. McCoy should not be confused with blues musician Robert Lee McCoy, also known as Robert Nighthawk.
