Robert Cecil Mortimer was an Anglican bishop, serving as Bishop of Exeter for 24 years after his consecration in 1949. Educated at St Edward's School and Keble College, he was initially a curate and later became a lecturer in canon law and Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at Oxford. Mortimer established an exorcism commission during his episcopate, which published a notable report in 1973. He was also an author and a frequent presence on BBC Television. He had four children, including journalist Edward Mortimer.
