Robert Lafayette Nix (November 8, 1944 – May 20, 2012) was a prominent American drummer and a founding member of the rock band Atlanta Rhythm Section. Active from 1971 to 1979, he co-wrote several of their hits, including 'So Into You' and 'Imaginary Lover'. Nix began his career with Roy Orbison's band and played for various artists, including Lynyrd Skynyrd. He battled diabetes and multiple myeloma in later years and passed away at 67 from surgical complications.
