Rody Vera, born on December 5, 1960, is a Filipino playwright, theater actor, and director affiliated with PETA. He has written over 25 plays, with 10 winning Palanca Awards, and adapted 20 foreign plays into Filipino. Notable works include adaptations of Brecht, Shakespeare, Genet, and Chekhov. Vera is a Palanca Awards Hall of Fame inductee and has composed lyrics for protest songs. He received the Gawad Tanglaw ng Lahi in 2015 and the Dangal ni Balagtas award in 2019 for his contributions to Philippine literature.
