Roger Angel is an American astronomer born on February 7, 1941, in St Helens, Lancashire, England. He is a Regents Professor and a professor of astronomy and optical sciences at the University of Arizona. Angel attended St Peter's College, Oxford, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1963, followed by a master's from Caltech in 1966 and a Ph.D. from Oxford in 1967. He has received numerous accolades, including the Newton Lacy Pierce Prize in Astronomy and election to the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
