As a prolific points-scorer for Swansea RFC, he contributed to their 1977/1978 WRU Challenge Cup victory, accumulating 2,374 points in his career. Blyth played a critical role in establishing the Ospreys franchise, serving as chairman, chief executive, and managing director. He received an honorary degree from Swansea University in 2017 for his services to Welsh rugby.
