Roger Steptoe, born in 1953, is an English composer and pianist known for his contributions to contemporary classical music. He studied at the University of Reading and furthered his education at the Royal Academy of Music, where he focused on composition and piano accompaniment. Steptoe's notable works include String Quartet No. 1 and the opera King of Macedon, both created during his residency at Charterhouse School. He served as a professor of composition at the Royal Academy of Music between 1980 and 1991. His performance achievements include recording significant piano quartets and Vaughan Williams' Four Last Songs.
