Rokusuke Ei was a prominent Japanese lyricist, composer, author, essayist, and television personality of Chinese descent. He is best known for writing the lyrics to 'Ue o Muite Arukō' (internationally recognized as 'Sukiyaki'), which gained fame in several English language films. Additionally, he wrote the lyrics for 'Miagete Goran Yoru no Hoshi o' performed by Kyu Sakamoto in 1963. Educated at Waseda University, Ei had a significant impact on Japanese music and culture.
