Roland Ziersch was a German writer and journalist, born on June 18, 1904, in Rottach-Egern and died on April 22, 1969, in Munich. He completed his Abitur in 1924 and earned a doctorate in 1930 about actress Charlotte Birch-Pfeiffer. Ziersch was recognized as one of the first authors to receive the Tukan Prize in 1965, awarded for outstanding literary works from Munich. He was married to the daughter of sinologist Erich Haenisch and the great-granddaughter of local historian Theodor Zechlin.
