Starting college at the Faculty of Engineering in 1973, he graduated in 1985. His teaching experience includes teaching physics at a vocational school and a catering school in Ljubljana. He became an assistant for mechanics at the Faculty of Engineering in 1986 and earned his master's degree in 1992 with a thesis on bimetallic shell stability analysis, later becoming the director of a higher professional school.
