He played with the Middlesbrough Municipal Junior Orchestra and professionally with Eric Delaney. Aspery co-founded the fusion trio Back Door in 1971, touring internationally. He performed with notable musicians like Miles Davis, Chris Rea, and Keith Richards, participated in the Montreux Jazz Festival, and contributed to albums by various artists, including Roger Daltrey and Meat Loaf. He passed away on December 10, 2003.
