Ronald Myles Dworkin (December 11, 1931 – February 14, 2013) was an influential American philosopher, lawyer, and constitutional law scholar. At the time of his death, he was a professor of law and philosophy at New York University and University College London, formerly teaching at Yale Law School and the University of Oxford. He significantly impacted legal and political philosophy and received the Holberg International Memorial Prize for his worldwide influential scholarship in 2007. Dworkin's theory of law as integrity, explained in his book 'Law's Empire', is a major contemporary theory regarding the nature of law.
